Every Place You Set Your Foot, Prayer Walking Series: Day 6 - God's Reputation

“I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you.  We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt…When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”
Josh. 2:9-11

The desert wilderness may have been a big place, but news still traveled about the Israelite God who decimated Egypt, parted large bodies of water, and provided for a hoard of people as they marched toward the Promised Land. And when they camped across the Jordon, the people of Jericho were in a panic.

Even though it seems like the enemy is enjoying victories all around us, he is in fact trembling—with anger and fear. His days are numbered and he knows it. Soon, the angel will blow the trumpet and the kingdoms of this world will crumble, never to be rebuilt. But right now, is our time to march around the city and pray in the power of the Spirit.

Despite Satan’s attempts to stay in the headlines with hatred, bloodshed, deceit, and the degradation of human life, he can’t drown the stories of victory wafting across the desert. Miraculous healings, Jesus appearing to individuals in dreams and visions where evangelism is forbidden, and the phenomenal growth of the underground church is even bigger news.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only true God. We can walk with confidence. Satan’s heart is melting in fear and his courage is failing because he knows the victory is the Lord's!

So as you pray, don’t be surprised by lashes from the opposition; potshots from the walls of Jericho. Desperation intensifies the defense as the end draws near.

The people of Jericho knew they were in trouble when the Israelite nation set up camp, and they were terrified. Just so, your prayers are no secret to the enemy, and he is afraid. The Israelites circled the city seven times before the Lord brought the walls tumbling down. And our prayers make way for God to break down walls people build against Him--stubbornness, doubt, bitterness, and self-sufficiency.

Pray God will be revealed as the one and only God. Pray for people in your community to experience sorrow, grief, and repentance for sin. Pray for families to be restored. Pray with JOY. For God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. His purposes will be accomplished.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
